This quest requires you to find and mine 2 Copper Ore. Copper Ore can most commonly be found at y-level 47 or below.
Extra Guidance[]
Mining[]
Thankfully, ores are plentiful in this pack. To tell where ores spawn, look them up in JEI, and left-click them to see their recipes. One of the resulting tabs is dedicated to ore generation. This tab will show you a graph of the ore's probability of existing at each y-level in each dimension. The starting dimension is labeled as Overworld. Note that you can see your y-level below your minimap in the top-right of the screen.
For example, if you look up Copper Ore's recipes in JEI and navigate to the World Gen tab, you can see its world generation graphs. Use the arrows to find the Overworld graph, and you can hover over points on the graph to see exact percentages for each y-level.
You could look for the Copper Ore in a cave, but it is recommended to go ahead and create your first mineshaft. The easiest way to do this is to dig through the world in a stairstep shape. Once you dig down to a good y-level for finding copper (the best y-level is 41), create a tunnel shooting off from your staircase, collecting any ore you find as you go. Note that you can't mine certain ores right now. Once you have collected enough ore, feel free to return to the surface.
Upgrading Your Pickaxe[]
This copper is intended to be used to upgrade your pickaxe. In order to do this, you will need to create a Copper Pickaxe Head. Instructions on casting metal parts from the smeltery can be found in our Smeltery guide. Once you've created the Pickaxe Head, you can place your pickaxe in the middle of the Tool Station and the Copper Pickaxe Head on the side. From the output, you can grab your newly upgraded Copper Pickaxe.
Reward Choice[]
None of these rewards are incredible, but Grout is fairly resource-intensive and can be used to expand your smeltery, so it is probably the best choice. However, any of these choices is really fine.
